Graffiti Removal

Having the right pressure washing plan for removing graffiti is essential to properly removing the graffiti fully without causing damage to the hard surface that you are cleaning. Each kind of surface that you may find graffiti on such as concrete, brick, wood, asphalt, vinyl siding and even metal, will all have a technique that is best suited to cleaning that particular material. Using a power washer will speed up the time it takes to clean up. The added heat adds an extra element of cleaning power that a pressure washer alone may not be able to provide.

Surfaces

When it comes to the complete removal of graffiti and other paint stains on outer surfaces, it is important to have a good understanding of the components that make up that material. The success of graffiti removal depends on the type of removal process that is used on a particular surface. The way that paint reacts to masonry will differ when compared to vinyl siding or metal. And different cleaning agents will have varying affects on these surfaces as well. You want to consider treatments that clean the surface of the paint, but do not cause damage or discoloration either. Using chemicals is not always necessary, and sometimes you may need to use a brush as well.

Paint

If you know what kind of paint was used in the graffiti, then it will take a lot of the mystery out of discovering the best way to remove it. There are a wide variety of paints and spray paints that could possibly be used in graffiti. Polyurethanes, lacquers and enamels are the most common. Synthetic resins like vinyl, acrylic, acetates, and meth acrylates are also commonly used in graffiti paint. Graffiti can also be produced by products such as brush-applied oil paints, alkyds and permanent markers.

Timing

It is best to attempt to remove paint and graffiti from a surface within the first 24 hours that it has been applied. For best results, the sooner, the better. It is also important to take into account the weather and the surface type that you are cleaning. For example, brick will hold in moisture much more easily than vinyl siding will. Vinyl may only take a few hours to fully dry, while brick could take days or weeks to fully dry out depending on the weather.

Chemical Application

If you are going to use a chemical agent to assist in the cleaning process, then it is important that you pre-spray the surface with the chemical solution that is best for the surface that you are cleaning. Our experts can help you to determine what solvents will be best for the job in order to keep your surfaces safe and clean.
